Reconciliation

Today's general Session focused on the theme of reconciliation. Featured speakers included Brenda Rosenberg of Reuniting the Children of Abraham and Pathways to Peace, Reverend Kevin Turman of second Baptist Church in Detroit, and Najah Bazzy, a transcultural nurse. A key construct has been, "If you want peace, work for justice. If you want justice work for reconciliation. Reconciliation brings transformation."

Day 1

Today I experienced both general and break-out sessions designed to improve my ability to facilitate dialogue and teach students both in and out of the classroom about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

I have met educators from all over Metro Detroit who work with youth in a variety of capacities.

These images are mostly quilt squares from a peace quilt created by children from the Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. Single-click on them to see them in detail.

The opportunity to find common ground and learn from people of different backgrounds is a central focus of this conference. There are so many people doing very real work that is making a difference in promoting peace and understanding within and among our communities.
